Canada Post Study Work Visa: Eligibility Criteria

A student must have completed at least 8 months of full-time studies in Canada at an eligible Designated Learning Institution (DLI).

The study program should result in a degree, diploma, or certificate.

Canada Post Study Work Visa: Documents Required

The following documents are required for obtaining a work permit in Canada:

  • Photocopies of your passport pages (must include your identification page and stamp from your recent entry to Canada)
  • A copy of your current immigration document (if you have one)
  • Two passport-size photographs
  • A final transcript
  • An official graduation letter or formal notice from the institution

Canada Post Study Work Visa: Duration

The validity of a PGWP varies from 8 months to 3 years. The length of the study program determines the validity of the post-graduation work permit.

Given below is the duration of the work permit according to the length of the study program:

  • Less than 8 months  - Ineligible
  • Between 8 and 24 months- The validity period is the same as the duration of the study program.
  • 24 months or longer - Up to 3 years.
  • More than 1 course  - Upon completion of more than 1 eligible study program, it may be valid for up to 3 years

Canada Post Study Work Visa: Application Fees

While submitting your online application, you will have to pay a processing fee for PGWP. You need to pay an open work permit holder fee of CDN$ 100.00 (6k-7k) along with a work permit processing fee of CDN $155.00 (9k-10k). Ensure that you have filled out the application correctly and have not missed any details.

Canada Post Study Work Visa: Selection Process

Once you have submitted your application, it's time to wait for the decision. Your application will be reviewed by the Case Processing Centre to determine if it is complete. Your application will be returned if it is not signed or the required fee is not paid. Sometimes, the case processing centre also forwards the application to a local IRCC centre for further evaluation.
